What is 
?
Fast ForWord is a series of interactive computer games that train students in core learning, language and reading skills. Based on over 30 years of neuroscience research into how the brain learns, the programme is internationally recognised by educators, health professionals and parents as an effective and scientifically proven tool for helping students to optimise their learning potential.
Fast ForWord develops and strengthens the essential cognitive skills called Learning MAPS:
- Memory – is essential for word recognition, comprehension of complex sentences, and remembering instructions. Fast ForWord enhances working memory, short and long term memory.
- Attention – is the ability to focus on information and tasks, and ignore distractions. Fast ForWord is scientifically designed to improve both attention and focus.
- Processing – is the rate at which one is able to accurately process incoming information. In the context of reading, processing rate refers to how quickly one can distinguish speech sounds and identify letters and words to create meaning.
- Sequencing – is placing the detail of information in its accustomed order. In the context of reading, sequencing is the ability to determine the order of letters within words or words within sentences.
In addition, Fast ForWord addresses and improves the building blocks for reading, including phonological awareness, phonics, comprehension, vocabulary and fluency.
How does work?
Fast ForWord utilises the patented FAST Power Learning principle to effect significant, lasting learning gains in a short period of time:
- Frequency and intensity
Research clearly demonstrates that completing a set of learning tasks in a frequent, intense timeframe accelerates learning. Fast ForWord harnesses this principle by training participants for 50 minutes a day, 5 days a week, for an 8 to 12 week period.
- Adaptivity
Fast ForWord’s interactive exercises automatically adapt to individual skill levels and responses so that the participant is continually challenged yet able to succeed.
- Simultaneous development
Fast ForWord exercises develop major cognitive and reading skills simultaneously to ensure long lasting improvements in learning.
