In this longitudinal study conducted in Texas, a diverse group of students displayed significantly improved reading abilities, that continued to improve months after completition.
Methodology
Before and after participation on the Fast ForWord products, students had their reading abilities evaluated with the Gates-MacGinitie Reading Test. Eight to twelve weeks after using Fast ForWord the students were retested with the Gates-MacGinitie test.
Measures
There are two parts to the Gates-MacGinitie Reading Test: a vocabulary test and a comprehension test. These tests are used to assess a child's decoding skills and understanding of words and passages. The scores from the two tests can be combined to give an overall reading score, that can be reported in terms of a grade-equivalent score.
