Gifted and Talented Students

Students classified as “gifted” in North Carolina, USA, used Fast ForWord Language and Language to Reading. After using these programmes, they showed significant gains in decoding (word reading).

Improved Decoding Skills

Methodology
Before and after participation on the Fast ForWord products, students had their reading abilities evaluated with the Woodcock Diagnostic Reading Battery (WDRB).

Measures
The WDRB is a standardized, nationally-normed test that includes several decoding subtests. Student performance on this test can be reported in Standard Scores, using a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15 (in this metric, scores from 85 to 115 are within the normal range).

Source
Data provided by school where assessment took place; school personnel were responsible for administering all tests and collecting all scores.
